The Sakonnet Peace Alliance is committed to peaceful witness against war and violence. We stand in solidarity with a multitude of religious, spiritual and humanitarian voices in the country and around the world who continue to oppose and speak out against the unilateralism and to growing militarization of American foreign policy. We believe the corresponding disregard of international structures for peaceful resolution of conflict will not serve the United States or the world community well. The outrageous spending for the Pentagon is morally offensive at this time of severe economic hardship and growing national debt.
We deeply regret the loss of life caused to Americans by the war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan. And we deeply regret, as well, the loss of life, the human suffering, the displacement and the destruction inflicted on the citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan as a result of these
